Chapter Six: The Wedding & The Request Part Two

After everyone congratulated Lina she made her way over to me and Shane.

“Hey, guys, hows it going?” She asked.

“Great.” Shane replied.

“Hey, can I talk to you?”

“Sure, Lina, what’s up?”

She nervously twisted and rubbed her head. “I..I think I’m pregnant.”

She rubbed at her belly, seemingly happy now. “God, I feel good getting that off my chest.”

Shane smiled and threw me a look that implied that he saw this coming. I just smiled back at him. Lina was so lucky.

“That’s great, hun.”

“Yeah, now I just gotta tell Sam.” She chuckled nervously.

“He’ll be happy for ya.” Shane said, patting her shoulder.

“I hope so.”

“Well, this as good a time as any. Roz, can I talk to you alone for a minute?” Shane asked.

I looked at him. “Sure….what is it?”

“Let’s just step over here.”

“Well, I can take a hint.” Lina smirked. “I need to talk to Sam anyway..”

Lina gave me a hug.

“Good luck, Lina.” I smiled.

“Thanks, hun, love ya!”

“Love you too!”

Though Lina never struck me as the motherly type, I was happy for her and extremely jealous.

After Lina walked over I step father away from the party with Shane.

“So, what’s up?” I asked Shane.

He took my hands. “You know I love you right?”

“Yeah..” I felt a knot in my stomach. Who starts anything good off with that?!

He reached out and gentle brushed my hair from my face. “And I want you to be happy.”

“I am happy.”

“Good, good.”

Now I not only had a knot but butterflies. Whatever he was going to say he needed to to get on with it!

He didn’t speak for a few moments. It made me nervous so I moved in for a kiss, which he did return, which eased some of my tension.

I didn’t want to let him go so I kept a tight hold on him.

“Roz, I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. But the time feels right.”

That’s when it happened! My day came. He knelt down and pulled out a little black velvet box with a beautiful diamond ring inside. I started dancing the instant I saw it.

“Will you, Rosalyn Christine Wintergold, be my bride?”

I let out a small shriek, which made him smile. Sam and Lina were both staring at us with huge smiles on their face. Lina made the go on symbol by fluttering her hand.

I looked into Shane’s eyes. He was waiting eagerly for my answer, smiling at me the whole time. Finally it was possibly my time. I loved Shane but was he the one?
